Falling In To "I DO"

Colby and Anslee Chapman

October 18, 2025 was a perfect fall wedding day. The venue was nestled beneath trees draped in colorful leaves, and the warm, quiet weather made the mountains feel even more magical. As I arrived, the bride and her girls were pulling in as well, ready to begin hair and makeup.

I love introducing myself to the bridal party. I always make sure they know the bride is my first priority, but I’m also there to help them throughout the day. I invite them to share ideas for photos, especially if there’s something meaningful they want to capture with the bride or an idea that highlights her personality in the best light.

I began the morning by photographing the venue while everything was still calm. I like to start with a short walk around the grounds to see the space as a whole. After that, I capture the ceremony site, tablescapes, cake table, and any other details that help tell the story of the day. Then I head back to the bridal suite to gather the dress, shoes, jewelry, invitations, and other sentimental pieces the bride wants photographed. These detail shots are some of my favorites. Of course, that is until the wind decides to blow the dress in the wrong direction or the invitations shift just as I have them lined up perfectly. Playing with light during these photos is always fun because I can get creative and highlight different textures and tones.

As the day progressed, I met the planner, DJ, cake designer, caterer, and videographer. I love capturing as many portraits as possible before the ceremony, because it gives the couple and their loved ones a chance to relax instead of rushing during that busy window between the ceremony and dinner. This day unfolded so effortlessly.

One of the quiet, sacred moments I treasure most is the first look or private vow exchange. After I capture what I need for their album, I try to step back and give them space while still staying observant enough to catch the subtle, emotional moments they’ll never want to forget.

The ceremony brought breathless looks between the bride and groom. It is always special to watch two people become one. I love that moment when you feel chills and see tears as the bride walks down the aisle. You know what I mean? You can truly feel the love between them and the presence of God surrounding everyone there. It’s also one of the highest pressure moments of the day, as I bounce back and forth capturing the groom, the bride, the parents, the bridal party, and then repeating it over and over until she finally meets her groom.

My favorite part of this ceremony was the pause for prayer before Anslee and Colby said “I do.” I treasure every opportunity to witness a love that strong.

The perfect fall wedding day continued with family portraits, bridal party portraits, and of course those cherished couple portraits. I worked alongside Canady Media, and together we caught the sunset and created some of my favorite images from the entire day.

As the night came to a close, we danced, celebrated, and ended with a glowing sparkler send-off. It was a beautiful day from beginning to end.
