Celebrating Motherhood: A Heartfelt Thank You
This year for Mother's Day, I wanted to do something meaningful—something that truly honored the beauty and strength of motherhood. I set out to create a space where mamas could feel celebrated and appreciated all while capturing their love in timeless portraits.
I envisioned a simple, elegant setup, brought to life with a backdrop of bright, colorful florals. I knew the white church pew I’d found during last fall’s family sessions would be the perfect centerpiece—classic, versatile, and full of charm. From there, everything started to come together: a soft, inviting theme, a cozy venue, and thoughtful touches like refreshments and small gratitude gifts for each guest.
Planning took a few hours of coordination—finalizing the venue, organizing the booking process, and staying setting a budget. Once everything was ready, I opened the sessions, and the response filled my heart. So many sweet mamas signed up to step in front of my lens, bringing their little ones along to freeze a season of motherhood in time.
The week before the event brought a surprise challenge: sourcing flowers during prom weekend! I made several trips to Trader Joe’s and two different Publix stores, only to find a limited selection. But in the end, the florals I found came together beautifully, adding a fresh and cheerful touch to the setup.
On the day of the event, I arrived early to set the scene—music playing softly, every detail in place, and my heart full of anticipation. Each session was filled with joy. The little ones gave me just enough stillness for a few perfect shots, and their moms laughed and smiled with ease, letting their kids be fully themselves. Those candid moments—the genuine laughter, the warmth in their eyes—are what I treasure most as a photographer.
Looking ahead, I’m already dreaming about next year’s Mommy + Me event.
I’d love to expand it with simple, meaningful activities for the kids—something heartfelt that they can take home and that moms will cherish. Nothing extravagant, just small, age-appropriate ways to add even more love to the day.
To all the mamas who joined me: thank you. It was an honor to celebrate you.
