To celebrate, my sweet friend Jill—who volunteers at the Walker County Animal Shelter—reached out and asked if I could help capture some adorable photos of the pets currently up for adoption. Of course, I said yes!
Jill and I go back a few years. We first met in 2021, back when I was still pregnant with my son. Even though we barely knew each other then, she gave me a thoughtful gift—a beautiful baby blanket. That small act of kindness has stayed with me ever since.
Since then, we’ve kept in touch, and I’ve had the joy of photographing her family each year. Over time, I’ve also had the privilege of watching Jill pour her heart into caring for the dogs at the shelter. She’s not only volunteered—she’s fostered, adopted, and rescued pups herself. Her love for animals is truly inspiring.
So when she asked me to come take portraits of the shelter pets, I knew it would be more than just a photo session. It was a chance to share some love, give these precious animals a little extra attention, and hopefully help them find their forever homes.
Spending time with these sweet souls was an absolute joy—and I hope these photos help each of them find a family to call their own.
